Do read the board rules.
Since January 1st, there's a zero tolerance policy: so far 40 people didn't bother.
Their accounts have been deleted.
Please keep this in mind:
Routine: handles some sort of aftermath, e.g. asking which clothes to wear
Session: a series of continuous instructions
Script: contains 24/7-aspects: assignments, punishments,... Can also include routines and sessions.
Script writers: please publish a Freya-ready version of your creations, as the beta has become the main release.

Board Rules - Contains SaveFile information - Read!!!

Postby Kenneth » Sat Dec 09, 2006 5:03 pm

From 2010 onwards, I will be deleting member ACCOUNTS rather than posts about SaveFile.
Read how to deal with this below - the most important parts are in red!

Rules

Here's a short list:
  • Users without a valid email address or who registered using a temporary email address, can be removed at any time without prior notice [since the email wouldn't get to them anyway]. So if you just registered with a phony email address, make sure you change that immediately. You can change the setting so it's only displayed to the administrator (=me)

  • Free filehosting websites are sometimes down. Please do not spam the forum with posts requesting to upload somewhere else. Instead, send a private message to the author. He remains responsible for the content and he needs to give his permission before others can upload it if he can't do it himself.

  • No general dating. The forum script Dating is meant to find a similar member, so you can exchange scripts and experiences
  • Any questions you have and which could be of public interest should be posted publicly, unless mentioned otherwise.
Depending on my time and mood, I might just delete PMs of users who ignore this rule.

Same for the other way around: " I sent you a PM ". These posts are deleted. You sent someone a PM, they will probably notice it themselves and it isn't useful for the public at all.
  • Don't spam (one or two word replies qualify here too - those will be deleted; useless reply only saying 'downloaded it', 'thank you' without elaborating it a bit etc), don't bump (bring up old topics without adding something useful), be polite

  • English is the only language allowed on the board [files in other languages are allowed and feedback in international parts of the forum], in order to keep the content appropriate. Try to avoid slang language ('r u here 4 me 2?').

  • Use paragraphs and punctuation marks. I don't mind if words are spelled wrong, after all English might not be your native language.

  • Use clear topic titles. "Help" or "question" is not clear at all. Better: "How does the Log Viewer work?", "SMS Feature",...
  • If you need help, be as precise as you can. Tell us what you already tried. You might want to use the search function (top right) to find more information.

  • Members who do not visit the board once in 100 days, may be deleted. You can register again at any time.

  • You can not share your login details on another website. This will result in the account being deleted.

  • If someone is bothering you with SPAM or bothering you (e.g. applying to be your online sub while you didn't mention anywhere you wanted one) in a private message, please inform me. We keep the right to investigate PM abuse, in which case we will read your PMs.

  • Use the search function or check whether your post is not a common one. For example, I've already deleted plenty of new topics about the update tool being considered as a virus. There is one main, even sticky topic in the announcements sections. Another classic one is people asking me about release dates or new syntax (CM Freya) for the hundredth time, while all details can be found in the announcement. Such new posts outside the topic will be merged or deleted, depending whether they contain new information or not.

  • If your profile details don't match your actual identity, you will get banned if we find evidence to prove this.

  • Don't PM me to be deleted. Just don't log in for about 3 months.

I often get PMs from users wondering where their messages went. I already have enough work administering the program, developing CM and creating content. I am not going to waste time on writing replies which are unnecessary if you read this post.

You can report infractions by sending me a PM (Private Message)

We keep the right to edit or remove any posts or user information if one of the above rules is violated.
Assuming that you read the board rules, we will not notify you of deleted posts since this is takes us too much time.

Disobeying the rules might decrease your chances of becoming a Star Member rapidly.
If you are already a Star Member, the status might be taken away from you.

Abbreviations
CM = CyberMistress
PM = Private Message (button)
IMO = in my opinion
IMHO = in my humble/honest opinion

F.A.Q.
Approval
You will be approved to download a few hours after you registered. Once you are approved, you can download the Custom Content.
There is no email to inform you about your approval. Just try to view the Custom Content forum and you'll see if you've been approved.

To access the Exclusive Content, you must be an active member.
But there's a separate topic which covers everything about that.

F.A.Q. regarding beta testing
Beta what?
Beta testers are people who test a new release of a program before it becomes available to everyone. They help to track down bugs and come up with ideas on how to improve the program.

The job for CyberMistress is mainly tracking down bugs and giving suggestions on how to improve existing features.

How to become one
You have to be invited now. Preference is given to users who participate in the community, it doesn't matter how good or bad you are with computers.

Benefits
New scripts and routines will be available to beta testers long before they come available to all members. There could also be other benefits as well.

Very short:
* no spam, no bumping, be polite

What's "bumping"?

bumping = posting replies, either completely off topic or with no value at all, which brings a very old topic (months old) back on top of the forum (so together with recent posts)

I wasn't sure where to put this, but I just wanted to let you know that you may have a few unverified accounts from me. I tried registering, and kept getting an error message, it never sent the verification email, but I was unable to use the email addresses after that. Finally, the next day, when I switched from FireFox to Internet Explorer, I was able to sign up. Sorry about the mess.

thanks for reporting

don't worry though, after 7 days, all accounts that aren't verified, are deleted. Let me know if you'd like to change your name then
Reading the board rules gives an answer to the 4 out of 5 PMs I receive and which never get a reply.

Thanks, I'm fine with the name, but I appreciate the offer.

hi

if you're talking about the one that (if I remember correctly) was available to beta testers, I think I still have the original picture series.
Before re-uploading here, I was planning to improve the Kate-files.

Reading the board rules is much faster than waiting for a response to your PM. If you're new here, you'll have to find out some things yourself.

Approval in order to download custom content is no longer required.

Do mind rule #1 though. Your email address is only visible to me, unless you specify otherwise. It's just courtesy to register with a valid email address, so we can contact you in case of problems with the program or with this community.

I noticed some infractions against this rule. Some posts have been deleted. Some people really aim to have a lot of posts to increase their 'status' or to obtain the Star Member title. I do need to point out that there is no default post count for promotion, it is just based on my humble opinion. I regularly evaluate active members.

How to avoid to see your posts being deleted: just add some more comments.

Instead of "thank you", "I like it", "keep up the good work": go a little more in detail. What do you (dis)like, what are your suggestions,...

Re: Board Rules - Contains SaveFile information - Read!!!

Postby Kenneth » Fri Jan 01, 2010 5:42 pm

Just bumping this topic, hoping some people will finally read the rules.

I've deleted hundreds of "SaveFile - could you please reupload"-posts.
I think it's very clearly (and nicely in red and bold) spelled out what to do.

It's very clear now with this topic title and it's a global announcement.
I'll go for a zero tolerance policy considering this issue from now on.
What I hate the most about it, is that it's most of the time a lurker who complains.
Rather than deleting posts, I will be deleting their accounts.

I just wanted to add my 2 cents worth about the rules. Kenneth is providing his time and expertise free. Anything we can do to save him a few minutes, or hours, is worth it. Reading the rules just takes a few minutes and most of them are common sense anyway. I agree 100% with the zero tolerance policy. Who knows, maybe by saving him a few minutes on board administration we can get Freya a little sooner. :D

Being new I have had a few questions and routines I couldn't get to work. So far, I have always found an answer somewhere on the forum. Most of the time the program was just fine, it was my head that had the bug. I would suggest that if you have a problem look around in the appropriate forum. Somebody may have already answered your question.

I would like to thank Kenneth, all of the authors, and all of the members that answer questions for making this a very enjoyable site. Lets not ruin it! I hope to begin writing routines and helping others soon.

As far as I can tell (not that I used them, but after dozens of dead links from elsewhere too), SaveFile seems to be totally "dead", so perhaps to avoid confused folks who just think links are "down" (like you said, a lot of share sites do that from time to time), a simple post can be stickied on the main or content board saying words to this effect? Even "SaveFile Links will not work" would be sufficient, I'd think. Requests for re-ups may be a "no-no rule" but since many/most folks used SaveFile in the early days of CM, a LOT of older content/posts will now have permanently dead links. Just knowing flat-out NONE of these will work until the creator re-ups could save anyone even asking; if it's SaveFile, it's dead.
